Dangerous Goods Policy

Sabar Airlines is committed to the safety of every passenger and crew member. Certain items are strictly prohibited or restricted in compliance with international aviation regulations.

Sabar Airlines dangerous goods infographic — items not permitted on board

In compliance with ICAO and IATA dangerous goods regulations, Sabar Airlines enforces strict rules on what may and may not be carried on board. Passengers are responsible for ensuring their baggage does not contain any prohibited items. Ignorance of these regulations is not accepted as an excuse.

Not Permitted on Board — Under Any Circumstances
Fireworks, explosives & sparklers — all pyrotechnic devices, detonators, signal flares, and similar items.
Fuel paste & flammable liquids — lighter fuel, kerosene, methylated spirits, and similar combustible substances.
Soda cartridges & camping gas — pressurised gas canisters of any kind not approved for medical use.
Poisons, household chemicals & infectious substances — bleach, acids, pesticides, and biological hazard materials.
Radioactive materials — unless carried under a specific authority granted in advance by the airline.
Paint & paint thinner — including aerosol paints, solvents, and turpentine-based products.
Gasoline & other fuels — petrol, diesel, and any fuel intended for engines, generators, or machinery.
Oxygen cylinders & underwater torches — compressed gas cylinders unless pre-approved for medical necessity.
Bags with alarm or timing devices — luggage fitted with motion-activated or electronic alarm systems.
Strong magnets & wet cell batteries — items that pose electromagnetic interference or leakage risks.
Mace & pepper spray — all personal defence sprays are prohibited in both the cabin and the hold.
Alcohol exceeding 70% ABV — high-proof spirits and industrial-grade alcohol are not permitted.
Cigarette lighters in checked bags — lighters must never be placed in hold luggage under any circumstances.
Restricted Items — Where They May Be Carried

Some items are not banned outright but must be carried in a specific location — either the cabin or the hold — never both. Carrying them in the wrong place is treated the same as carrying a prohibited item.

Carry-on bag only

Lithium batteries, power banks, e-cigarettes, spare batteries, and portable electronic devices (PEDs) must travel in your cabin bag. They are strictly prohibited in checked luggage due to fire risk.

Checked bag only

Pocket knives, scissors, aerosols within permitted quantities, wine & spirits under 70% ABV, sporting equipment, and sewing kits must be packed in your hold luggage — not in the cabin.

On your person only

One cigarette lighter may be carried on your person. It must not be placed in any bag — carry-on or checked — and will be confiscated if found during screening.

Tip: When in doubt about any item, do not pack it. Contact us at info@sabarairlines.com before your travel date and we will advise you accordingly.

Consequences of Non-Compliance
Passengers found carrying prohibited dangerous goods will be denied boarding without refund.
Prohibited items will be confiscated immediately and may be handed to airport security authorities.
Passengers may face prosecution under applicable civil aviation law and be held financially liable for any damages caused.
Repeat offenders or those carrying items deemed intentionally dangerous may be placed on a no-fly list.

Reminder: These rules exist to protect everyone on board. Sabar Airlines cooperates fully with aviation authorities and law enforcement. Ignorance of the regulations is not a valid defence. If you are unsure, ask our staff before you fly.
